A very old antique handcarved-handpainted-wood marionette-puppet from S.E. Asia.  Likely Burmese — pre-WWII — from textiles, style of clothes and fabric-condition — which is faded & one leg of the pants has a rip. The marionette itself is a work of art — most expressive — and because each part from head and mouth to hands to knees to fingers — is articulated — it seems (see pics) the expression changes with changes in position. The hair is carved, the face is beautiful and the feet knock me out with hand-carved painted traditional shoes.  A very “alive” — somewhat worn (textiles) — piece for a collector or to use as a folk-art or wall-hanging.  Height is 27″ Width is `12″.
